Missouri City Inmate Search and Jail Roster

The Missouri City jail roster shows who is currently held at the Fort Bend County jail following arrests made by Missouri City police and other agencies operating in the area. Missouri City does not have a city jail. When Missouri City officers arrest someone, that person is transferred to and booked into the Fort Bend County detention facility. This page explains how to search the roster online for free, what information each inmate record contains, how the VINE notification service works, and where to go for state prison records when someone does not appear in the county system.

Where Missouri City Inmates Are Held

Missouri City is located primarily in Fort Bend County, with a small portion extending into Harris County. Most Missouri City arrests go to the Fort Bend County jail, run by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office in Richmond. The city does not operate its own detention facility. City police make the arrest, and the county handles booking, housing, and all inmate records.

The Fort Bend County inmate roster shows each person's name, date of birth, booking date, charges, bond status, and current custody status. Both are accessible without an account at any hour.

If someone does not appear in the online search, call the sheriff's office. Booking records may take a few hours to populate in the public system after a person arrives at the jail.

Missouri City Police Department

The Missouri City Police Department handles law enforcement throughout the city. Officers patrol, respond to calls, investigate crimes, and make arrests. Once an arrest is made, Missouri City PD transfers custody to the Fort Bend County jail for booking. The department does not maintain an inmate roster or hold people beyond an initial booking process.

You can request records from Missouri City PD under the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552. This law allows anyone to ask for incident reports, arrest logs, and other non-exempt documents. Submit a written request to the department's public information officer. They have ten business days to respond. Records tied to active investigations may be withheld, but the agency must state which exemption applies.

How to Search the Missouri City Jail Roster

Searching the Missouri City jail roster is free and straightforward. A date of birth helps narrow the results. The search returns current Fort Bend County bookings including charges, bond amount, and booking date.

A few things to keep in mind when searching:

  • New arrests may not appear online for several hours after booking
  • Use the full legal name for the best results
  • Date of birth helps when names are common
  • Released inmates may still show with a release status

If the person you are looking for is not in the Fort Bend County system, they may have been transferred to Harris County jail if the arrest occurred in a part of Missouri City within Harris County. Check both systems if you are unsure which county applies. People serving state sentences will be in TDCJ records rather than any county roster.

State Prison and Criminal History Records

The Missouri City jail roster covers people currently in the Fort Bend County jail. It does not show anyone who has been moved to a state prison. Use the TDCJ Inmate Search to find state-sentenced inmates. TDCJ lists current facility, offense type, and projected release date for every person in the Texas state prison system.

For a broader criminal history, the Texas DPS Crime Records division holds statewide records covering arrests, charges, and dispositions. Some records are free. Others need a fee or a signed release. DPS data goes beyond what any single county jail roster shows and is useful when you need more than a current booking record for someone in Texas.

Texas Jail Standards

The Texas Commission on Jail Standards governs county jails throughout Texas under Title 37 of the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 265. TCJS sets requirements for staffing, inmate care, facility conditions, and record management. Fort Bend County jail is inspected regularly and must address any deficiencies within set timelines. Inspection results and noncompliance notices are published publicly on the TCJS website.

Public Information Requests in Missouri City

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 gives anyone the right to request records from public agencies in Texas. You can ask for booking records, arrest logs, or incident reports from Missouri City PD or the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office without giving a reason. Write to the agency's public information officer and they must respond within ten business days. Most basic jail and arrest records are public by default.

If a request is denied, the agency must tell you which exemption applies. You can challenge the denial with the Texas Attorney General, who can review the request and order release if the denial was not proper. Filing is free and open to any Texas resident or interested party.
